Asian Designers in Berlin
I just read a good news from Berlin. The 6th Asia-Pacific Weeks Berlin 2007 will be held from September 10th to September 23rd. Within the APW, a three day event (scheduled for September, 21-23) named “InFashion” will present mutual influences of Asian and Berlin fashion designers by means of workshops, symposia and fashion shows. The workshops and symposia are especially designated to match producers, buyers and fashion designers.
Shows, performances and presentations will give an insight into latest trends and specialities of German and Asian designers collections. The show will feature designers from China, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.
Vietnam’s Thien Toan is among the fifteen Asian designers chosen for the event by the eminent team of German fashion and institutions in Berlin. Toan is expected to display spring-summer 2008 collection inspired by rice and bamboo fields.
It’ll be an opportunity for the Asian designers to show their collection as well as Asian cultures. Because APW will focus on the influence of the Asian-Pacific region on the Western world, in the fields of urban infrastructure and creative ndustries. The impact of different cultures on one another evolve through sustainable dialogue - maintained between the city f Berlin and the cities in the Asia-Pacific region, highlighted and intensified during the Asia-Pacific Weeks.
The event is organized by Fashion Patron, an agency specialised in promoting and actively supporting fashion designers to establish their own business. Esmod Berlin, The House of World Cultures, the Asia-Pacific Forum Berlin are founding and supportive partners. Our partners from the Berlin fashion infrastructure are University of the Arts Berlin, Bread & Butter Berlin, Premium Exhibitions and Galeries Lafayette Berlin.
