Park Hye

Park Hye in Derek Lam

When browsing for New York Fashion Week Fall 08, I saw Park Hye’s on the runway in Derek Lam’s. Her truly Korean face caught my attention, as I’m always interested in Derek Lam’s way to doll up the beautiful walking creatures on the catwalk.

Park Hye is maybe one of the brightest Asian supermodels beside Du Juan or Anne Watanabe. She has appeared on the catwalk for designers such as Prada, Christian Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, and Burberry. She’s also appeared in international campaigns of Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, H&M, M.A.C. Cosmetics, GAP, Le Printemps, Marc Jacobs, Cesare Paciotti, Saks Fifth Ave, and Love, Sex, Money.

She made her debut in Fall 2005, and later Vogue named her one of the top 10 models. After that she’s continually posed for the magazine (including American, French, Italian, and surely Korean edition.) In 2006, André Leon Talley proclaims Park to be his favorite model and in 2007 she’s listed on Paper’s Most Beautiful People.

Hye was born in Seoul, South Korea on January 17, 1985 and then immigrated to Salt Lake City, Utah. She was discovered at an open casting call while attending the University of Utah in 2004.
