Mikio Sakabe

Still from Japan Fashion Week Fall 08-09, another designer that caught my attention was Mikio Sakabe. She showed chic and playful outfits, made us feel like watching the dolls were walking on the runway. Mikio Sakabe graduated from ESMOD Paris in 2002, and continued her fashion education in Hogeschool Antwerpen, Fashion Department, Antwerp, Belgium, to 2006.

Hisui

Japanese designer are always inspiring. They tend to think out of the box. Like HISUI collection on Japan Fashion Week Fall 08-09 in this picture. Hisui is an arty Japanese brand with Hiroko Ito as the designer. Its signatures are psychedelic, swirling graphic prints and geometric motifs. Hisui’s ingeniousness is a big hit and loved by [...]

It isn’t Always About Sari

Indian fashion talk isn’t always have to be about sari and other colorful outfits those remind us of quaint Bollywood movies with the stars dancing under the trees. Forget those body moving scenes, and let’s take a look at some photos from some Indian fashion shows in 2008. Trivial thing. Don’t you notice that the models [...]

Teresa Helbig, Inspired by Anime and Manga

Japanese anime and manga have always been a thing for fashion designer. Teresa Helbig is one of the inspired ones. She turned the armored Japanese warrior princesses vision of Aya Takano(, the manga artist) into clothings for her fall collection and showed them in Paris Fashion Week last February. The clothes gave the image of [...]

Yohji Yamamoto’s Hermes Bag

Talking about The Yamamotos, Yohji now :) Beside his Y-3 catwalk show in New York, and his fashion show in Beijing on April, Yohji Yamamoto, also collaborated with Hermes, creating a new signature bag for the French fashion house. This bag was firstly showed in Paris Fashion Week, together with his Fall 2008 collection. It features Yohji’s [...]

Limi Yamamoto, Like Father, Like Daughter

Everyone knows Yohji Yamamoto, but not the fact that he’s got a daughter who wanted to play bass guitar in a rock band then ends up in Paris with her own label, Limi Feu. Limi Yamamoto presented reflection of new Japanese aesthetics as in Japanese women, with more common body types, none like usual model parade, [...]

Doo-ri Chung, Another Breaking Out, Asian Faced, Attention Catching and Heart Stealing Designer

It’s so interesting to talk about breaking-out, Asian born, attention catching and heart stealing designers. Doo-ri Chung is a Korean-American. She was prized $200,000 (also came with a Lexus and a Montblanc watch) as the first winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund competition in 2006. And the same as Thakoon, she also designed the limited [...]

Bright Colored Bag, Remainder from Spring

Pop, vibrant, bold colors may have been the ‘it’ seasonal trend that have passed. People are starting to move on and talk about Summer, or even Fall 2008 trend. However, in Asia, especially in tropical countries which are blessed with sunshine the whole year, there’s always reason to wear what’s called ‘remainders from Spring’. Colored [...]

Thakoon

It’s really nice to see Asian faces like Doo-ri Chung, Derek Lam, or Thakoon Panichgul in Vogue (February 2008) pages, especially when they are titled ‘Fashion’s Latest Breakout Designers’, and called ‘America’s hottest talents’. Eventhough they are nationally American, but we can still feel their Eastern heritage :) Talking about Thakoon, this talented designer, who grows [...]
